Newcastle’s first season back in the Premier League, was definitely one to remember. It wouldn’t be a normal season for the Toon without the rollercoaster ride we’re all used to. In amongst the ups and downs, there were some memorable goals. Here are just a few of them.
Number 10: Fabricio Coloccini vs Tottenham
Newcastle drew 1-1 at home Spurs when a late Aaron Lennon goal shared the spoils. But the limelight was truly Coloccini’s, when he took a Barton pass on the chest and volleyed the ball past Carlo Cudicini.
Number 9: Ryan Taylor vs Chelsea
Newcastle went to Stamford Bridge and shocked the London side when the Toon beat them 3-4 and sent them tumbling out of the Carling Cup. Ryan Taylor scored one of his trademark free kicks to make it 2-1 before the break. He hit it right footed from 20 yards and it flew past Ross Turnbull in the Chelsea goal.
Number 8: Andy Carroll vs Liverpool
Newcastle fans will probably remember Andy for other reasons, but if there are any goals to remember him by, this must be one of them. He scored the final goal in a 3-1 home win against Liverpool. Defenders let him take his time as he took a single touch a let rip into Pepe Reina’s bottom right hand corner of the net.
Number 7 – Shola Ameobi vs Sunderland
If smashing the Mackems 5-1 wasn’t good enough, Shola Ameobi gave us a goal to remember. Danny Simpson sent in a cross for Carroll, who hit the bar with his header and Shola hit the ball on the volley and the ball rose into the roof of the net to make it 4-0.

Number 6: Joey Barton vs Stevenage ‘Boro
In a disappointing game for Newcastle fans, Joey Barton sparked a mini revival by scoring an absolute screamer from 25 yards into the top of the net, to make it 2-1. Newcastle went on to lose 3-1 and subsequently get knocked out of the FA cup.

Number 5: Joey Barton vs Aston Villa
Newcastle’s first home game of the campaign started in spectacular style, with the destruction of Aston Villa. Newcastle won 6-0 and Joey Barton started the afternoon in style, by releasing a lethal strike into Brad Friedel’s net. He took one touch and shot from 25 yards and Newcastle fans went crazy as they watched Newcastle’s first goal of the season, hit the roof of the net.
Number 4: Ryan Taylor vs Accrington Stanley
Newcastle scraped a 3-2 win away to Accrington Stanley in the Carling Cup and Ryan Taylor buried another one of his trademark piledrivers as he made it 1-0 by shooting from 30 yards. It nestled perfectly into the top corner of the goal.

Number 3: Hatem Ben Arfa vs Everton.
Newcastle fans haven’t had the chance to see everything our French winger has to offer. Although, he did give a glimpse of his brilliance in a narrow 0-1 win away to Everton. He took the ball inside to rifle a corker into the top corner. What a goal.
Number 2: Jonas Gutierrez vs Wolves
Newcastle desperately needed a win at St. James’ park and they didn’t disappoint with a 4-1 win over Wolves. Gutierrez scored the final and the best goal of the game, by running from the half way line before delicately curling the ball into the bottom corner.
Number 1 – Cheik Tiote vs Arsenal
I think it’s fair to say that this game and this goal will be remembered for a very long time. Newcastle came back from a 4-0 deficit at home to Arsenal to draw 4-4 in the greatest comeback in Premier League history. Cheik Tiote scored this thunderbolt to score Newcastle’s fourth goal in the game and to send the Newcastle fans into raptures.
